Orwell Decorative and Fine Arts Society (ODFAS) was founded in 1999 and is active in the Ipswich area. Our logo is a copy of the 13th century town seal of Gippeswick, the medieval name for Ipswich.

We are a small society with about 100 members, but our lack of size is more than compensated for by friendliness and enthusiasm. The principal aim of the society is to encourage and promote knowledge and interest in all aspects of the Fine Arts. In this we follow the goals of The Arts Society (the operating name of NADFAS), of which we are a Member Society.  Always registered as a charity, Orwell DFAS has recently become a CIO (Charitable Incorporated Organisation) with the new Registered Charity Number of 1174135.  Our President is Mrs Maggie Talmer.

The society holds monthly afternoon meetings nine times a year (excluding July, August and January), in which we host an illustrated lecture for our members. Lecture topics are chosen to provide as wide a variety as possible. Ceramics, Glass, Paintings, Mosaics, Sculpture, Architecture, Textiles, Jewellery, Furniture, Garden Design, Music, Literature, Theatre and more. The lectures are delivered by well-known and renowned experts. In addition, the society organises regular day trips to notable places of interest (museums, galleries, houses and gardens) in East Anglia and nearby.
